Exercise is important. While the reasons for exercise will vary between individuals, the fact that it should be an essential part of our daily routine is one that cannot be overstated. Regular exercise builds strength, endurance, but most important of all, it builds discipline.

But you won’t be able to reach your health goals on exercise and discipline alone. The truth is that a healthy body is the result of regular exercise and proper nutrition. After all, the body needs fuel and building blocks in order for it to grow. While most gym goers already know how to hit their macros, not many people know that they can actually further advance their progress by taking supplements.

Not many people are comfortable with taking artificial supplements, and thus, they opt for natural alternatives. If you belong to the aforementioned demographic, or if you want to try something different, these are some herbs that you might want to consider using.

Turmeric

Turmeric contains curcumin, which is what gives the root its yellowish color. Curcumin is also what helps support the body’s anti-inflammatory response and it functions as an antioxidant. It is known to facilitate protein production, which is essential for muscle growth and recovery. Turmeric also helps with joint function and mobility.

Boswellia

This particular herb promotes a health inflammatory response by inhibiting specific enzymes. Like turmeric, boswellia also helps with joint function. Boswellia also nourishes the mucosal lining of the GI tract, which helps maintain gut health.

Green Tea

Green tea is one of the staple herbs of health enthusiasts because it facilitates the healthy metabolism of carbs, such that you essentially burn carbs more efficiently and can also have a slight muscle-building effect. Green tea can also enhance your endurance when accompanied by caffeine.

American Ginseng

American Ginseng is one of the most popular herbs among health enthusiasts because of the many benefits derived from its use. Ginseng has been proven to improve stamina and endurance as well as a means for better digestion. There are many other types of ginseng that might also be of interest to you and many of these are widely available through stores like Terry Naturally.

Maca

The Maca root is a caffeine-free performance enhancer that has been used since the time of the Inca warriors. It enhances energy and stamina and it also facilitates a healthy libido in men and women. It helps in stress management by regulating your hormones. Maca dissolves easily and has a pleasant taste, which means that you can easily mix it with some of your favorite food and drink, like a smoothie. It’s these attributes that make Maca a strong favorite among runners, especially when you consider that long-distance running is not only physically taxing, it can also be mentally-straining in its repetitiveness.

Artificial supplements are not for everybody. Some people’s bodies do not react well to these supplements, while other people simply want to try a different approach to their health. Whether you’re part of the former or latter demographic, these herbs might be just what you’re looking for.
