Hemp comes from the same family of plants as marijuana, and has suffered some negative association as a result. Even though hemp as a plant has been legal to grow and consume for decades, it still has suffered from the stigma carried by marijuana.

However, hemp flowers — and the CBD that is derived from it — are potentially able to help with a number of health related issues. Unlike marijuana, hemp flower contains CBD (cannabidiol) and little-to-no THC, so it does not make you feel high. It is almost completely harmless to consume, making it and CBD oil from Joy Organics an increasingly popular supplement in recent years.

Let’s look at the three kinds of health issues that studies have confirmed can be helped with hemp flowers.

Inflammation, Aches and Pains

Chances are you’ve heard how medical marijuana is often used to help treat various kinds of pain. Well, hemp flowers can also be used to reduce various types of aches and pain. Part of that comes from its strong anti-inflammatory properties, since a lot of acute and chronic pain is either caused or worsened by inflammation.

However, another important factor is how CBD interacts with your brain. It is able to interact with areas of your brain that regulate the feelings of pain, as well as with your nervous system. As a result, it is an effective pain killer and supplement that can be taken for everything from regular aches and pains, to chronic issues like arthritis or fibromyalgia.

Stress and Anxiety

Unlike marijauna, which can actually make feelings of anxiety worse, hemp flowers can also be used to obtain relief from anxiety and stress. Research into CBD has found that it may be effective in reducing the levels of anxiety and stress you experience. Specifically, it interacts with the receptors in your brain that are linked with serotonin, a chemical your brain produces that affects your mental health.

So when you use hemp flowers, whether it’s smoking them or adding them to food, you gain all the benefits of CBD. That’s because hemp flower is the most natural form of CBD, before the compound is extracted from the plant and refined into oil or other products. As a result, it also has less additives or additional chemicals.

Insomnia and Sleep Quality

Lastly, hemp flowers can also help people with various issues regarding sleep. For people with insomnia, studies have found that it helps improve a person’s ability to fall asleep. The research is not fully clear how or why, though at the very least it may be because CBD helps deal with underlying issues that exacerbates it.

However, CBD may also affect your general sleep cycle in a way that improves the quality of your sleep, helping you to feel more rested and relaxed than usual.

There are other potential benefits of hemp flowers to treat other medical or health issues, but they are not as strongly supported by research. If you want to use hemp flowers to help with pain, anxiety or sleep, it is a good idea to talk with your doctor. They may be able to recommend better methods of consuming hemp flowers to attain their benefits safely.
